Latest UPDATES to Drop Off and Pick Up Plan

Dear Heritage Families,

Thank you for your patience during our first two days of school with new drop-off and pick-up procedures. The good news is that we shortened the pick-up times in both front and back lots by 10 minutes from Thursday to Friday. We know we can do better and here's what we are changing to help with both drop-off and pick up processes (changes are in italics).

Drop Off Procedures:

  • AM TK/Kindergarten Parents will walk their students to the front gate and wait for teachers to meet them at 7:45 to pick up students. In order to ease crowding by the front gate, we are adding TK/K teacher name signs to the front fence areas for kids to line up with a parent. Please keep the front gate area clear so that other students can get in and not have to squeeze by TK/K families.
  • All other parents may choose whether to drop students off at the front or back of school. The back gate will not open until 7:45am so if your child is eating breakfast which begins at 7:30, please drop them off in front of school. Students will enter the front gates next to the office and either proceed to the MPR for breakfast or to the playground to wait for the bell. We encourage students NOT eating breakfast to arrive at 7:45am.

 Pick Up Procedures

  • “C” Gate by Kindergarten playground will be where all PM Kinder and their older siblings will meet to be picked up IN PERSON by parents who must WALK up. If parents are unable to park on Acanthus to walk across the field to the C gate, they can park in the county class access road just north of the field and drive up, park, and walk through the gate there to meet their K students at the "C" gate.
  • Back Parking Lot (Acanthus) will be a drive-through pick up only for all 3rd-8th graders with no younger siblings in K-2.  No parking in Acanthus lot except for teachers “parallel” parking against the far south fence. Please be courteous and take turns entering the driveway.  We are adding small flags labeled A-Z on the grass for students to find their siblings and sit lined up behind the letter beginning their last names. This way, parents and staff can find them faster
  • All 1st-2nd graders and their older siblings will be picked up in the front drive-through lot.  They will wait in classrooms until our proctor calls for them by radio.
  • For both drive-through pick-up areas, we are in the process of making student name placards to place on car dashboards to make this process faster, but you can make your own signs for now to quicken the pace.

We know the first two days were less than perfect and we will continue to monitor the system and seek ways to improve it, so there may be additional changes along the way.  We will keep you informed!  Thanks again and we’ll see you soon!

Sincerely,

The Heritage School
