First, we have a few changes to our morning drop-off process that begin on Monday. These changes were initiated by staff to improve student safety, increase classroom learning time, and return to more “normal” practices. Starting Monday, students that arrive between 7:30-7:40 will enter school through the front office and go to the Multipurpose Room for breakfast. At 7:40, the front gates will open and students will enter campus there as usual. Students in the MPR will be excused (if they’re finished eating) to go to the area behind the elementary classrooms (middle school kids) or to the elementary playground (elementary kids). At 7:53 the teacher on duty will blow a whistle and all elementary students will line up at their classroom cones. At 7:55 the bell will ring as usual and middle school students will walk to class. Elementary students will be excused by class to walk to their rooms. TK and Kindergarten students will continue to line up just inside the gate with their teachers. Please remember that TK and Kinder students line up at 7:45 when their teacher is there to supervise them (unless they’re on campus earlier to eat breakfast).
The back gate will continue to open at 7:45am and students will be directed to the lower campus until the bell rings. Staff will lock the back gate at 7:58 so that they can get to class on time. The back driveway gate will lock at 8:00am. If you arrive after 7:58, and the student gate is locked, please take your student(s) to check in through the front office. Our goal is to have every student in their classroom and ready to learn at 8am as was past practice.
As teachers begin inviting parents on campus to volunteer, please remember that our campus, like other Snowline schools, requires ALL visitors to check in through the front office. At our site, this includes using the Raptor Security System which requires using your valid CA Driver’s License or ID Card. Our office staff is always happy to help you with this process. Teachers will inform the office of their volunteer schedules, so we know that you’re expected. We are all very excited to have our parent volunteers back on campus to help support our students’ learning! Thank you for your patience as we continue to improve our systems.
Some additional information:
*VIPA General Meeting is Wednesday, March 30 @6:30 pm in the MPR. All parents are invited. VIPA is a great way to volunteer, especially if you work during the day!
*ALL parents and students (grades 4-8) are asked to complete the LCAP Survey by April 8. We’ve only had 20 parents complete it so far! Here is the link: LCAP Survey
*Middle School Quarter 3 Report Cards will go home the week of March 28.
*State Testing (CAASPP) will be in the middle of April. Please limit absences, and early checkouts during this time. More information to come.
*Elementary students received awards last Friday for Honor Roll, Good Citizenship, and AR Reading. We are looking forward to presenting these awards with parents present next time!
That’s all for now! Thank you and we’ll see you next week!
Sincerely,
Debbie Arbizu
