Updates and Safety

Dear Heritage Families,

It was great to see so many of you at Back to School Night and we thank you all for a wonderful first full week of school! We appreciate your partnership as we’ve started up the year with weather challenges.

At The Heritage School, we understand how important it is for our kids to learn in a safe and comfortable environment. During the hottest days of summer or coldest days of winter, we provide students with options for comfort and safety such as misters, access to the MPR for recesses, adjusted recess schedules, and frequent water breaks. We continue to teach and reinforce safety at school, and we ask you to help by doing the following:

  • Ensure your child is dressed appropriately for the weather: jackets, umbrellas, sunscreen, hats, etc.  Mark all outerwear, water bottles, backpacks, and lunch boxes with student names.
  • Provide a water bottle each day for your child.
  • Check your child each morning to be sure they have no signs of illness.
  • Keep your child at home if they are sick with fever or vomiting.
  • Remind them to wash their hands often. We have hand sanitizer in every room.
  • Send back student emergency cards and other important paperwork so we can update parent contact information accurately.
  • Remember to bring your identification to school and sign in through Raptor when visiting the campus.

Some traffic safety reminders:

  • Please drive slowly in the parking lots while dropping off and picking up kids.
  • Make sure you use the crosswalk areas painted in the front parking lot to enter and exit school when walking.
  • When dropping off students in the front, stay in a single file line up to the curb and only dismiss kids from cars at the curb.
  • When picking up students in the front,  please wrap the line down Agoura Rd (dirt road), so that cars aren’t dangerously close to Phelan Rd.

My monthly Principal’s newsletter will be shared the first week of September with much more information regarding our school and events but here are a few updates and reminders until then:

  • School wide Spirit Day is this Friday, Aug. 25 and it’s Disney Day!
  • School Picture Day is Oct. 18
  • Early Bird Breakfast with the principal is Sept. 1 @ 8:15am. Email Mrs. Arbizu if you would like to help with the breakfast potluck.
  • Middle school students will choose their electives for 6th period this week (see our middle school website for details). Snowline is currently in the process of hiring an elementary music teacher, so no music elective for now.
  • Cross country practice for our middle schoolers will begin this week on Monday or Tuesday depending on weather (see our website and the Band app for details).
  • The VIPA Heritage Family Campout is coming Sept. 15-16

To stay informed, please follow our Heritage School FB page , our school website , the VIPA FB page, and the VIPA Instagram page @officialheritagevipa.  Also, be sure to join your child’s  classroom Dojo if applicable.

Thank you for your partnership!
